Association

Selfnet stands for "Self Network" and is a powerful network for student dormitories in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg and Esslingen.
Selfnet e.V. is a non-profit student association whose network is completely self-managed by students in a voluntary capacity.

Network

Selfnet runs a powerful network in the student dorms of the Stuttgart region, including Ludwigsburg and Esslingen. On this site you can find out more about our network. If you are interested in our network, you can also visit our office hours.

Tasks at Selfnet

To keep the network running smoothly, we handle various tasks, including maintaining and upgrading equipment, managing servers for the network and organizing the association while supporting our members. This gives us the opportunity to take on responsibilities while studying and gain valuable hands-on experience, for instance in project management.

Club life

Support days are essential for our association. On these days, you’ll find most Selfnet members in the support and club rooms, which are always available for active members to work on projects for the association.

In addition to our regular activities, we attend congresses and other events together. We also organize our own event, Nethack, featuring workshops and talks.

Active Members

Active members are those who choose to support Selfnet by participating in its activities. They contribute to various day-to-day tasks across different areas. On the technical side, this might involve designing a new website, managing servers, routers, or switches, writing internal software, and more. New members typically begin with non-technical tasks, such as registering new members or assisting others with problems, in order to familiarize themselves with Selfnet and learn more about the technical aspects.

When we refer to active members, we also include regular members who are actively involved but have not yet officially upgraded their membership status. At Selfnet, these “titles” don't matter — we work together in a casual, friendly environment with a focus on getting things done. Many active members say they've learned more at Selfnet than in their formal studies!

Sound great? Join us! Just stop by during one of our support hours and let us know you'd like to help. We are always happy to welcome new members. Speaking German is not a requirement!
